![]() The Original Dairy BuildingThe first installment of the Dairy Building was erected, consisting of a frame building with laboratories on the first floor and office on the second floor in 1896.

![]() The University FarmThis was the University farm in the 1890’s. Some classroom instruction was being carried on but most was on city campus. The College of Agriculture was established in 1909 and all the classes were moved to the farm campus.

![]() Heat ExchangerAfter the cows were milked, the milk was cooled with this heat exchanger in 1904.

![]() New Dairy BarnIn 1926, the New Dairy Barn was built east of 39th Street and opposite Center Drive. It was torn down in 1971 to make room for the Animal Science Complex.

![]() The Second StepThis building was enlarged and veneered with brick in 1897. The total cost of this building with the modifications was $5,500.

![]() Separator LaboratoryThis was the Separator Laboratory of the Department of Dairy Husbandry. The lab was built in the late 1890’s when this picture was taken. The department was first a part of the School of Agriculture (a high school) established on the Agriculture college campus in 1895 and became a part of the college about 1900.

![]() FeedlotThe feedlot of April 1913 is very similar to those of today, filled with the common native cow.

![]() The Present BuildingThe new Dairy Building was dedicated in 1917. It is now known as H.C. Filley Hall.

![]() Dairy BarnThis dairy barn was built and fully equipped in 1900. Included was the “state of the art” Lansing Silo. The dairy barn was located east of where Filley Hall-Food Industry Building now stands.

![]() Katy GerbenKaty Gerben, the prize milk cow in April 1913, produced 18573.4 pounds of milk in one year. The milk contained 727.85 pounds of butterfat.
