Where is the Dairy Store?

The Dairy Store is located on the East Campus Loop between 36th and 37th streets and Holdrege in Lincoln.

When is it open?

What ice cream is available right now?

The current flavors in our dip cabinet are posted on our Facebook page.

“Like” our page to stay in the loop on the latest offerings as well as sales and promotions. Flavors are always changing, so make sure you check back!

What other products does the Dairy Store sell?

In addition to our hand-made ice cream and premium meats and cheeses, the Dairy Store offers several items at our East Campus lunch counter, including:

  • Fresh-made sandwiches ,wraps, and salads
  • Tasty gourmet soups
  • Authentic South American cheese puffs made from scratch

Tour FAQs

Can I tour the Dairy Store?

Of course! Tours are scheduled Monday-Friday on an appointment basis. Call (402) 472-2973 or e-mail dairystore@unl.edu schedule a time.

The Dairy Store requests two weeks notice to schedule a tour. Groups should plan on meeting at the store itself 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start. Optimal size is about 15-20 people per group, and the tour itself takes about 15 minutes. Topics Include:

  • How cheese is made
  • What makes your favorite ice cream flavor so tasty
  • What a full-functioning dairy plant looks like
  • How our hand-made dairy products make it from cow to cone or milk to curd

How much do tours cost?

Tours are free! They are given subject to availability. After the tour, groups can purchase a single dip cone for a discounted price.

Who gives the tours?

Our trained Dairy Store ambassadors facilitate tours using their unique knowledge of the store’s history, its capabilities, and the various processes used to make our fine dairy products.

Shipping FAQs

What can I have shipped from the Dairy Store?

Our famous premium cheeses and meats can be ordered through the UNL Marketplace.

Our hand-made ice cream can be shipped as well. Call (402) 472-2828 to place your order.

Refrigerated items ship via UPS or FedEx second-day air; overnight if specified. From October to April, cheese usually ships standard UPS ground. Delivery 3-5 business days.

Hats and T-Shirts with the Dairy Store logo can be purchased at the UNL Marketplace.

Also, make sure you “like” us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. You can see if your favorite flavor is in the dip cabinet and hear about our daily lunch and ice cream specials.

You can sign up for our "N-Sider" newsletter as well to gain access to special deals for our online audience and stay in the loop on everything going on at your favorite ice cream counter.

Catering FAQs

Can the Dairy Store cater my event?

Yes! Insulated coolers keep ice cream at the optimum temperature for scooping. The Dairy Store's ice cream social package includes:

  • Cones
  • Toppings
  • Nuts
  • Spoons
  • Napkins
  • Ice cream scoops
